This was a PDF copy of the book provided by the author.  I received no compensation for reviewing this book.  all thoughs, opinions expressed herein are mine alone.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to review this book before it came out. I am not one who likes mushy romance. Therefore this book was one I really enjoyed. Dani came from a privileged life yet here she was running to some hick town to visit an aunt she didn't even know. Running out of gas she is lucky enough to get picked up by Steve, a very handsome man who is also the mayor of Miller's Creek. Steve and Dani immediately get off on the wrong foot. They prejudge each other. This is made worse by the fact that the one person they have in common is Mama Beth. Dani has been looking for a place to call home for a long time. She thinks she finds it in the dying town of Millers Creek and sets about helping revive the town. Dani's secrets along with her mother's feelings of betrayal come to a head one night when Danie learns the biggest secret of all. The only thing she can do is run until she realizes the only way she will find her way home is through God.

This was a well written book. The old saying of "show don't tell" is exactly what Cathy Bryant has done. I grew up in the country and could feel the breeze blowing through my hair, and smell the country smells. It took me down memory lane. I laughed and cried and worried throughout the book. I read it through in one sitting. This is definitely a book I will recommend to all of my friends. This is the type of book I would re-read again and again. I was pleasantly surprised to get a glimpse into the second book in this series and I look forward to reading it when it comes out. Cathy Bryant is a talented writer and one we need to keep our eye on.

  4. I agree with everything Sandra said--wish I could say it as well, in my own words! I too read it in one sitting! And Cathy makes you feel like you're right there in Miller's Creek, or Dallas, or wherever Dani is at the moment. It's a great book, and I'm eagerly anticipating the next one!
