Spring Reading Thing Wrap Up

Here is the link to the books that I listed for the Spring Reading Thing.  The four highlighted yellow are the only ones on my original list I did not read.  I still must read them, I just didn't get to them for the challenge.  I originally had 30 books on my list.  I  ended up with 45 on the list.  My list changed somewhat as I went along.  It seems that the last two months have been full of review books.  I only accept books to review if I believe I would really enjoy it.  I therefore felt obligated to go ahead and read them during the Spring Reading Challenge.  I came across several new authors during this time.  G.P. Taylor is he author of "The Dopple Ganger Series".  These are graphic novels.  I don't like graphic novels usally.  I accepted the second book in the series, "The Secret of Indigo Moon", because it looked different than most graphic novels.  I enjoyed it enough that I requested the first " The First Escape" and third book , "The Great Mogul Diamond", to read.  I recommend them to everyone.  It has a great balance of pictures and words.

I read "People of the Book" by Kathi Macias," Bound By Guil"t by C.J. Darlington and "Anessia's Ques"t by Karen Arnpriester.  These are three author's whose work I will be looking to read on a regular basis.  I enjoy calling them my friends and discussing not only reading but writing.
I learned several things during this challenge.  For me I need a challenge like this that is laid back with little rules.  I need to be able to read and review books as they come in.  I also learned that I need to be more flexible.  I still have over 300 books on my shelves here at home that I need to read.  Things have been piling up for the last few months.  I've not read as many books as I normally would.  Instead, (insert shameless plug), I saw my first book "Steps to Courage" published and up on Amazon.  I am currently working on my second book.  While working on promoting my own work I am helping promote the works of several others.  I have cut down on the number of challenges I will enter in the future.  However, the "Fall Into Reading Challenge" and "Spring Reading Thing Challenge" will be the two I will continue to participate in as long as they are available.  My favorite thing about it is how easy it is to get my students to participate and how easy it is to change my books on a whim.  I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

  1. It's weird to see a title that I've read but a different author. Looks like I'm adding Kathi Macias to my wish list.

  4. Thank you Suzanne. I am finding it difficult to balance my 3 loves, Teaching, Reading and Writing. I'm sure I'll eventually find it though.
