This book is so wonderful. It takes place in the Red Hook Projects. Sean is the school's best disser. He has good grades and he doesn't fight. In his group is Justin a nice boy who likes rhyming, Kyle who is very smart, and Vanessa who Sean respects. After Sean has some secret trips with his mom he has a whole new attitude. He's violent and doesn't talk with his friends anymore. Justin, Sean's best friend tries to find out what's wrong with Sean and tries to confront him about it. I liked this book. It was easy to read. I would recommend this to my friends. I connected with some of the character's emotions.

This was such a beautiful book both inside and out. Through the book children realize that we believe that they are born carrying with them a potential for greatness. I wish I’d had this book when my children were younger. It teaches children that no matter what their differences, be it religion or culture everyone has this potential. I was still able to share this with my daughter who can now share such a wonderful book with her children. Through this book she can teach them how special they are.

As a teacher I see bullying on a daily basis. I try really hard to stop it when I see it. This book is simple yet speaks volumes. Mike hates going to school each day because he is bullied on the bus and at school. He tries to get his friends who are bullying to join him in standing up against the bullies. This seems like a great idea until the bullies come in. Mike is left alone and ends up on the bathroom floor. He finally is given the opportunity to let a teacher know. The teacher is the one who give Mike the voice to stop the bullying. We need more books like this one to help our kids realize they can go to an adult for problems like this. Excellent job of letting students know they don’t have to put up with bullying.
