In this story Princess Alyss Heart lives in Wonderland. Her parents die and her evil Aunt Redd takes over. Alyss escapes along with Hatter Madigan, her bodyguard, into our world. She tells her story to an English Writer who convinces her that it is just a dream. She starts to believe it is just a dream. Back in Wonderland they are trying to find her. A group of rebels are trying to overthrow the evil queen and give the throne back to Alyss. But first they have to find her. What made this so unique was the fact that she was related to the evil queen. I thought the re-imagining of the characters was great. The laid back Cheshire cat of the old Alice in Wonderland takes on the mantle of a mercenary. I laughed so much. I love twisted fairy tales. The twist on this book was wonderful. This is a must read if nothing else to see the way the characters are portrayed.

  1. This is one of my favorite Alice retellings. I haven't read the second one yet but I will soon. I love how everything was revisioned and it makes sense. (I also love the spelling of Alyss.)
