Review Policy

I am currently not accepting requests for reviews as I am booked through December and I am preparing for NaNoWriMo.  Check back after the beginning of the new year.

Review Policy 

I will review just about any age or genre of book.  My main focus is on anything that is middle grade and up since I teach middle school.  I have many grandchildren so I am always on the look out for good children’s books.  I will review picture books and if they come with an audio or video component that is fine.  For parents and my fellow teachers I DO review adult books.

Since I am an eclectic reader I will read just about anything.  If it has anything to do with witchcraft then please don't send it to me.  I will occasionally review graphic novels as long as there is a good proportion of words to graphics.

I prefer books in physical form but I am open to e-books.

I DO review self-published authors.  As a self published author myself I know how difficult it is to get people to review your book.

Things to know before you contact me:

I review almost every book sent to me.  I say almost because if I find it vulgar or offensive I will not read it.  I agree to read a minimum of 50 pages before I make a decision not to finish it. I never promise anyone (author or publisher) a positive review.  What you get from me is my honest opinion.  However I try to make informed choices for books I review.  Therefore, I cut down on the number of negative reviews, which are rare.  I try to always find something positive in the book.

There is no guarantee that I will get to your book immediately.  I read a lot of books and I review them whether they come from my own shelves, the local library or from you. I can't promise to get to any one book in a given time frame.  Having said that I will tell you that on average it is within a month of receiving the book.  If it is for a book tour which has a deadline, then I will most definitely bump it up the list to make that deadline.

Blog Tours

I do participate in blog tours some of the time.  As a teacher my life is already busy and some months I just can’t participate.  Please go ahead and consider me.  If I like the book and author and the time of the tour will fit my schedule then I am more than happy to say yes.

Not My Favorites

In the past I have read self-help and how–to books.  I won’t necessarily say no to these if the topic is one of interest.  However, I am not interested in business, economics or politics.

On a Personal Note

I have been a first round judge for CYBILS for the last two years and I was a judge for INSPYs this year.  As a new author I am choosing the books I review a little more carefully so that I can indulge in both of my pleasures, reading and writing.
