The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

Publisher: Hyperion, 2009
Pages: 381
ISBN: 978-142310147-5

Once again Rick Riordan has tied up all the loose ends to the Percy Jackson saga. Percy, faced with enormous burden of what he must do to save Mount Olympus gives it his all. You wonder throughout the book which girl if any will he end up with. Will he survive to end up with a girl? Why are the Gods not at Mount Olympus to defend it? They have left the very place they must protect unprotected allowing the evil one to fight his way in. What about Luke? As Kronos gains power is Luke still alive within? I was sad like so many to see the book end. I was thrilled that each one was a stand alone novel. I also have hope that there will be another series. My suspicions for believing there just might be are two-fold. One, the story ends with a new oracle whose first words are another prophecy. My second reason for believe that their might be a second series based on the same characters came in the "Acknowledgements when the first line starts, "As the first Camp Half-Blood series draws to a close..." I hope that there will be another series.
Like all of his other books in this series, I gave it a rating of 5 out of 5.

  2. I loved this book and this whole series!! I wold like a sixth book to finish up this prophecy before a new series is started. I'm also in love with the characters Percy and Annabeth and hope they are in the new series if there is going to be one.
