The Xenocide Mission by Ben Jeapes

Publisher:  Random House
Pages:  388
Source:  Library

From the Inside Cover:

From the first totally unexpected laser bolt, we know we are in the hands of a master storyteller.  With heart stopping action sequences and unbelievably alien aliens, this amazing novel marks Ben jeape's arrival as a super-nova talent in sciencde fiction.

Lieutenant Joel Gilmore is part of a multi-species space observation team stationed in a distant solar system who find themselves attacked by the very aliens they are supposed to be watching.  Now Joel and his allies, the enigmatic Rusties, explore the parameters of trust in a lethal confrontation with a deeply alien third species:  one with a nasty predilection for mass murder on a planetary scale.

My Thoughts:
If you like Science Fiction then this is probably the book for you.  I had never hear of it.  I had chosen it simply because I needed a book for the "ABC Title Challenge".    This is one of those science fictin books written for teens, young adults and crosses over into the adult sector.  I am picky about my science fiction.  This is a sequel and since I didn't read the first one I didn't enjoy it as much.  I hate to say I didn't enjoy it enough to go back and read the first one.

The story starts out with SkySpy monitoring a group of aliens called Xenocides.  They have killed off other species that inhabited their solar system.  When they are suddenly attacked by the Xenocides they must do their best to survive until they are rescued.
