Cybils Nominations Are Open!

The Cybils Nominations opened yesterday.  Have you nominated your favorite book of the year?  If not hop on over and do so.  PLEASE make sure you READ the simple instructions.  This will avoid your book being bumped out because it is ineligible.  The book must have been published between October 16, 2009 and October 15, 2010.  October 15th of this year is when all nominations end.   Then the fun begins.
Last year was the first year I was a panelist for Middle Grade Fiction.  I was so new that I didn't even nominate any books.  This year I had my list ready in advance.  I was also chosen to be a Middle Grade Fiction Panelist again.  I have been looking at the list.  A lot of the books I am not familiar with.  I have been checking them out on Amazon to see what they are about.  My book list of books for my classroom just got longer.  What did I nominate you are asking?  Well check it out.

Elementary/Middle Grade Science Fiction/Fantasy:  The Shadows by Jacqueline West
Teen Science Fiction/Fantasy:  The Web of Titan by Dom Testa
Middle Grade Fiction:  Dear George Clooney, Please Marry My Mom by Susin Nielsen
Non-Fiction Picture Books:  The Boy Who Changed the World by Andy Andrews
Young Adult Fiction:  Girl Stolen by April Henry

Let me say up front that this was not an easy task.  So many books were worthy of being nominated.  Some didn't qualify which made it easier.  I have seen many that I had on my list that someone else nominated.  I am very happy for that.  I know it could not have been easy for them to choose.  The only book I can honestly say I knew from the day I read it that I would nominate it was Dom Testa's Web of Titan.  I have become a big fan of his series.

So What are you waiting for?  Get out there and nominate your favorite book.

  1. Thank you for reminding people to read the eligibility rules before nominating! As part of the SFF Teen panel, I look forward to reading The Web of Titan. I'm not familiar with it, and I'm always on the lookout for new books that I haven't heard of. I'm especially happy to see more science fiction nominated this year!
